On the shores of Lake Garda there are the biggest and most important amusement parks of northern Italy. Gardaland in Castelnuovo del Garda, among the biggest and most renowned parks in Europe, disposes of dozens of attractions for both adults and children.
At the Parks Movieland and Canevaworld in Lazise you will be thrilled with realistic film sets and breathtaking slides. In Bussolengo there are the Parco Natura Viva and the Zoosafari where rare and exotic kinds of animals can be seen, and in Lumini there is the Jungle Adventure, the park where the jumping with ropes and over rope-made bridges surrounded by a wonderful natural setting produces pure adrenalin.
A lot of such structures are also present in the southern area of the Lake, among them Waterland and Acquapark Altomincio. All parks are easily reachable by car e some of them offers a widespread shuttle-bus service.
In Toscolano you go in he direction of Valle delle Cartiere (Valley of the paper mills). This is a worth-seeing, historical place because you have to go back to the Middle Ages to find its origins. Since then it had been a place of pre-eminence in the production of printing paper till the year 1962 when the last factory – that of Maina Inferiore – broke off its production. Today is possible to visit this place.
Thanks to some restoration work carried out by the common of Toscolano together with the Consortium of Communes in Mountain Area and the Burgo Group in these last few years, the Valle delle Cartiere is now regarded as one of the most important industrial archaeological site of northern Italy.
In the surroundings of this place it is also possible to go for delightful walks on foot or on horseback to discover the beauties of nature all around.
With its nine commons the Park “Alto Garda“ (Upper Lake Garda) includes a rather wide area on the western shore of Lake Garda and it is made up not only by a lake coast but also by a highland.
In this park coexist indeed a Mediterranean habitat with an alpine one and from that coexistence and biodiversity comes out that this park is a really special place for all those who love nature and for research workers. Its luxuriant, diversified vegetation creates an ideal setting for a close path net developing on the gentle slopes of the park where you can go for walks on foot or with mountain-bikes to discover pleasant peculiar spots.
The park offers the sports fans a series of activities in the open air in close contact with nature like hiking, trekking, paragliding, archery, fishing and canyoning.
Lake Garda is dotted with a lot of isles the biggest of them is the Isola del Garda (Isle of Lake Garda).
On the isle there is a villa in the neo-Gothic Venetian style that belongs now to family Borghese Cavazza. Between May and October these people open the door of their residence to guided tours, so that visitors can admire some of their splendid halls and the beautiful English and Italian gardens all around.
The Park-Garden Sigurtà is situated on the area of the municipal district of Valeggio sul Mincio just a few kilometres from Verona.
It is an oasis of green of incomparable beauty where the peculiarities of a natural park merge with the features of a garden, giving birth to a delightful enchanting place.
This park-garden spreads out on a surface of about 600.000 square metres and develops with different ornamental plants and landscapes that follow one another and create unequalled sceneries.
All seasons are easily perceived in this wonderful park thanks to colours and perfumes and the numerous natural corners that are visible throughout the park. Inside this natural oasis there are a lot of paths to follow so as to enjoy the overall sight of the place with its meadows and groves, flowers and trees.
Since 2009 the park has housed a farm for teaching purpose where the youngsters can meet donkeys, hens, ducks and sheep.
Just a few minutes away from Gardone, the Heller Botanical Garden is a delightful place, which was founded by a doctor, Arthur Hruska who collected here more than two thousands species of plants from all over the world.
The Heller garden is today a magic place hanging between sacred and profane, fantasy and reality. Nature and Art live together here and create an environment unique of its kind. In fact, besides countless kinds of flowers and plants, a lot of works of art are also kept in this garden, and they are the products of well-known artists like Roy Lichtenstein, Susanne Schmögner, Mimmo Paladino and Keith Haring.
